Activity in 2009

  • Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Coastal Erosion in Orissa and its Impact on Climate Change’ on 4th January in Bhubaneswar.
  • Observed the National Science Day and the National Environment Awareness Campaign by holding public meeting, plantation of tree saplings, competitions among students and release of a book on ‘Climate Change’ in Odia language, on 28th February. It was hosted by the Royal College of Science & Technology, Bhubaneswar. The Indian Science Congress Association: Bhubaneswar Chapter colaborated the programme.
  • Organized a popular talk on the theme ’Relevance of Vedic Physics in the Contemporary Society’ on 5th April  in Bhubaneswar.
  • Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Erosion along Puri-Konark Shoreline’ on 3rd May in Bhubaneswar.
  • Celebrated the 37th World Environment Day by holding a public meeting on 5th June on the current year’s theme in Bhubaneswar. This was collaborated by the ISCA Bhubaneswar Chapter.
  • Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Popularization of Science’ on 5th July in Bhubaneswar.
  • Organized a popular talk on the theme ‘Demographic and Social Issues in Environmental Projects’ on 2nd August in Bhubaneswar.
  • The 63rd Independence Day was celebrated by hoisting the National Flag and holding discussions on the ‘Development of the Odisha State’.
  • Organized a popular talk-cum-demonstration on the theme ‘Science of Yoga and Pranayam’ on 6th September in Bhubaneswar.
  • Celebrated the 55th Wildlife Week and Gandhi Jayanti by holding a popular talk on the theme ‘Non-Violence and Wildlife Conservation’ on 2nd October in Bhubaneswar.
  • Organized a workshop on the theme ‘Anthropogenic Impacts at Khandagiri- Udayagiri Twin Hills, Bhubaneswar’ by holding a one-day workshop and field visit to the hills, on 25th October.
  • Collaborated the two-day state level science congress- 12th Orissa Bigyan Congress’ organized by the Bhubaneswar Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association on 5th and 6th December at the Regional Museum of Natural History by holding presentation of research papers, popular talks on science, felicitating eminent scientists for life time contribution in various disciplines of science. The focal theme of the Congress was ‘Science & Technology Challenges of 21st Century- National Perspectives’.
